Hello Everyone!
Happy Saturday. I apologize for missing last week's blog post. I recently moved back to Chicago for another semester of school, and I've been pretty busy settling back in and getting started with my classes. However, today's blog is not about Chicago or my new classes, it's about something more exciting. Yesterday, I posted a music video that's a new take on my song "Wild Life". I'm very excited about this video, it was done by Sarah Jo Carré, a film student in Colorado.
I met Sarah last October when she came to visit my friend, and roommate, Martha. Martha and Sarah have been best friends for over five years, so I had heard a decent amount about her. Sarah sounded like genuinely one of the coolest human beings I could have the honor of meeting. Not only is she incredibly talented in all aspects of the film industry, but she spent her first semester of college in France, took time off to be a wrangler on a ranch in Arizona, is one of the most hardworking people I know, and is a badass woman who takes no prisoners. Knowing all of this, I was a little intimidated to meet her, but once we got talking it was like we had been friends for years. The weekend was a blast and later led to Martha, Sarah, and I talking about one of Sarah's upcoming projects where she had to choose a song to make a music video about. I joked she should use one of my songs, and Sarah took the idea and ran with it. I know nothing about making music videos, so I was grateful to give Sarah full creative liberty. She worked for months with an amazing staff to create a gorgeous video that I think adds an interesting new perspective to "Wild Life". Sarah also submitted the video to some film festivals, and at the beginning of the video, you can see the awards it won.
You can find out more about Sarah's upcoming projects on her Instagram and Youtube Channel. With that, I leave you with Sarah's take on "Wild Life". I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Happy Monday! We have a bit of a late blog post this week because this weekend I was lucky
enough to explore a bit of Kansas City with my family. We had a super action-packed weekend filled with swimming, LEGOLAND, an aquarium, and seeing Wicked.
Millie,
racing cars we built. I don't mean to brag but my car won our race. After all of that, it was great to walk through the Sea Life Aquarium. I love aquariums, and I love fish so I ate this up. My sister, Harper, loves animals and was most excited to see the sea turtles and the stingrays. My personal favorites were the eels and the seahorses. Everyone had a great time at the Aquarium, but we were ready to go back to the hotel and swim after lunch and a quick nap.
Sunday was the day we were all the most excited for since it was the day we were seeing Wicked. This wasn't the first time my parents and I had seen
Wicked, but it was the first time for Harper and Millie, which made it my favorite. Harper and Millie have been listening to the Wicked soundtrack on repeat since they found out we were going, which made them more and more excited to go. The cast we saw perform were absolutely fantastic, they were all so talented and an absolute pleasure to watch. I was drawn in the entire time. I loved watching Harper's and Millie's faces during some of the most iconic moments of the musical. They absolutely loved it, and I definitely caught them tearing up a few times. Of course, so was I.
All in all, this was a fantastic weekend, and I can't wait to go back to Kansas City and experience more of what the city has to offer. Let me know some of your favorite spots in Kansas City, and what your favorite musical is.

These past few months, I've been listening to Mt. Joy's self-titled album, Mt. Joy, pretty much on repeat. I started listening to this band after they performed at Hinterland last summer and completely won me over. Mt. Joy consists of 13 songs, all with a similar laid-back, rock feeling. Their songwriting is fantastic, and their musical skills are subtle but equally impressive. I love all the songs on the record, but some of my favorites include "I'm Your Wreck", "Bigfoot", "Julia", "Astrovan", and "Younger Days". The album is just great song after great song and is the perfect record to dance around the house.
about them. My favorite podcast of all time is the wildly-popular "Crime Junkie". If you love true crime, you will be hooked on this podcast. "Crime Junkie" is hosted by childhood friends, Ashley Flowers and Brit. Between their expert story-telling, great sidebars, and fantastic chemistry, these women are an absolute joy to listen to. Each story will have you hooked and waiting for the next episode.
This week, one of my new favorite shows started its final season. I don't watch a lot of anime, but Attack on Titan is an absolute masterpiece. Based on a manga by the same name, the show is set in a world where humanity lives within three enormous walls, protecting them from man-eating, humanoid creatures called Titans. The story follows Eren Yeager and his friends Armin, and Mikasa as they navigate war against the Titans. The show is action-packed, twisting, heart-wrenching, and will keep you wanting more. I don't watch much TV, but I watched all three and a half seasons that have been released in under a month. The art style is gorgeous, the music is poetic, the characters complex and charming, and the story is fantastic.
